Mercury is seeking an Organic Search Marketer to shape how our expertise is discovered by founders and entrepreneurs across search engines and AI answer systems. This role is crucial for guiding users seeking trusted advice as they build and grow their companies.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Develop and execute product-level search and AI visibility strategies, using data and audience insights to identify opportunities and improve content effectiveness.
- Collaborate with Social, Product, Product Marketing, Engineering, and Community teams to implement search and AI strategies across various content formats and channels.
- Manage the technical search engine optimization roadmap for Mercury.com, working with Engineering to enhance site performance and accessibility for both users and bots.
- Partner with the Stories team to create content roadmaps that balance long-term planning with adaptability to evolving search trends and business needs.
- Establish repeatable processes and AI workflows to enhance the efficiency and impact of search efforts.
- Optimize evergreen content for search performance while maintaining quality and brand standards.
- Identify opportunities to improve the visibility of Mercury products across owned and earned media by building authority and connecting upstream topics to our solutions.
- Propose and scope valuable content assets like tools, templates, and downloadable guides to increase shareability and citation.
- Continuously test new approaches for improving traditional and AI search traffic, scaling successful tactics and incorporating learnings into overall strategy.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years in search engine optimization, with at least 2-3 years specifically focused on AI-driven search.
- Strong technical understanding of how large language models and traditional search engines process and prioritize content.
- Proven ability to independently translate strategy into tangible, high-quality outcomes, taking initiative in setting priorities.
- Practical experience with AI agents and automation tools, with a knack for developing them into scalable systems.
- Data-driven decision-making skills to effectively prioritize initiatives, scale successful efforts, and discontinue underperforming ones.

- Salary ranges are competitive and updated regularly based on industry data.
- US employees in NYC, LA, Seattle, or SF Bay Area: $128,600 - $144,600 base salary.
- US employees outside of NYC, LA, Seattle, or SF Bay Area: $115,700 - $130,100 base salary.
- Canadian employees: 121,500 CAD - 136,700 CAD base salary.
- Total compensation includes base salary, equity, and benefits.
