Head of Product - Business Lending at Mercury.
About the role
Mercury is building a banking-grade lending operation to extend trust to businesses. We are looking for a product leader to define strategy, lead a team, and drive growth for our lending business. This role will own the entire lending product lifecycle and P&L outcomes.

What you'll do
- Own the P&L and multi-year strategy for business lending, including product development, market segmentation, and growth targets.
- Build and scale the lending organization by recruiting, developing, and leading a product management team.
- Launch and expand Mercury's lending products, such as term loans and lines of credit, establishing experimentation loops for growth.
- Collaborate with credit, underwriting, and risk teams on policy, models, and eligibility criteria.
- Manage relationships with finance, capital markets, and banking partners to ensure adequate capitalization and scalability.
- Balance growth with regulatory and risk standards, making trade-offs between speed, user experience, and controls.
- Align various internal and external stakeholders, including engineering, operations, data, compliance, and sales, to achieve lending objectives.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in lending or credit products, with significant time in SMB, commercial, or business lending.
- 5+ years leading and managing product management teams, including hiring, coaching, and organizational design.
- Deep understanding of the entire lending lifecycle: eligibility, application, underwriting, decisioning, funding, servicing, repayment, and collections.
- Proven track record of owning a lending P&L and managing its key drivers like pricing, credit policy, and loss performance.
- Experience launching and scaling new lending or credit products, ideally in a fintech or high-growth setting.
- Direct experience working with bank partners, lending partners, or capital markets to structure and fund lending operations.
- Ability to balance customer experience with regulatory and risk controls in a sensitive environment.
- Data-driven approach and strong cross-functional leadership across product, underwriting, finance, and compliance.
