Senior Full-Stack Engineer
This role is responsible for owning the complete lifecycle of product development, from initial intake to final deployment. You will shape the banking experience for startups, transforming complex requests into structured product goals. The position operates within a close-knit, autonomous squad that functions like a startup within a larger organization. Your work will directly influence how Mercury products are built and delivered to our customers.
The ideal candidate is a pragmatic engineer motivated by the creation of lovable products. You will partner closely with designers and product leaders to build solutions that go beyond the current market standard. Many of our clients are startups themselves, and they value sleek, magical experiences that relieve them of frustration with legacy industry tools. Success in this role requires a balance of independent execution and collaborative delivery.
Key Responsibilities
You will be accountable for designing intake workflows that convert ambiguous requests into clear, actionable product objectives. This involves architecting both frontend and backend systems across potential domains such as Banking, Experiences, Expansion, or Risk. You will conduct thorough pragmatic reviews to validate proposed solutions before they are released into production.
A core part of the position involves shipping lovable experiences that allow startups to navigate financial workflows with ease. You will coordinate with various partners to guarantee that integrations adhere to product specifications and compliance regulations. also, you will explore the daily application of AI tools to accelerate development, improve code quality, and solve difficult technical challenges. Translating user needs into testable interfaces while creatively balancing tradeoffs is a fundamental duty. Clear communication with teammates and cross-functional collaborators is essential across all time zones.
Qualifications
Candidates must possess three to seven years of full-stack development experience. A strong excitement for technologies such as Haskell, React, TypeScript, and Redux is required. You must empathize with users and convert their perspectives into practical product decisions. Effective communication with peers and cross-functional counterparts is a regular expectation in this position.

Compensation & Location
This is a full-time position based in San Francisco, CA, New York, NY, Portland, OR, or Remote within Canada or the United States. The total rewards package includes base salary, equity, and benefits. The target base salary ranges are $166,600 - $208,300 USD or CAD 157,400 - 196,800. These ranges are competitive within the SaaS and fintech industry and are updated regularly using market data. Offers are tailored to candidate experience, expertise, location, and internal pay equity.
