About the role
Mercury is building a comprehensive suite of financial services for startups. This role focuses on managing and growing the network of partners that power our lending products. You will be instrumental in shaping our lending infrastructure as we move towards becoming a bank.
Key facts
What you'll do
Manage relationships with key partners that support our lending operations and future banking services.
Develop and expand Mercury's network of lending partners to support our growth and regulatory goals.
Act as the internal authority on lending management systems and their integration.
Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, Risk, Product, Engineering, and Finance to finalize agreements, monitor partner performance, and ensure regulatory compliance.
Lead the process of identifying, vetting, and integrating new lending partners.
Translate partner needs, limitations, and regulatory requirements into clear internal action plans and schedules.
Remove internal obstacles and advocate for Mercury's product direction while considering partner and regulatory constraints.
Communicate Mercury's compliance framework, legal obligations, and technical setup to external partners.
Requirements
Minimum of 6 years in banking or payment operations, with at least 4 years in strategic partnerships or B2B/payment product roles.
Experience working with or managing lending management system providers.
Demonstrated ability to lead partnerships and manage significant, high-impact relationships.
Strong communication and project management skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
Empathy and a calm demeanor, particularly in regulated and constrained environments.
A keen interest in product development and understanding how financial systems benefit users.
Proficiency in negotiation, with experience in complex commercial and regulatory discussions.
Technical aptitude or comfort working with engineering and compliance teams on intricate systems.
Ability to manage multiple critical projects simultaneously without compromising focus.
Creativity in problem-solving within regulatory and operational boundaries.
A customer-centric approach to all problem-solving.
Skill in simplifying complex systems and regulatory rules into understandable processes.

Experience with the full lifecycle of banking product development.

The total compensation package includes base salary, equity (stock options), and benefits.
Salary ranges are competitive within the SaaS and fintech sectors and are updated based on industry compensation data. Offers are determined by candidate experience, expertise, location, and internal pay equity.
Target new hire base salary ranges:
US employees in New York City, Seattle, Los Angeles, or San Francisco: $180,900 - $226,100
US employees outside of New York City, Seattle, Los Angeles, or San Francisco: $162,800 - $203,500
