Job description
Research Engineer - Agent Memory at Mem0.
About the role
Mem0 is looking for a researcher to lead the development of memory systems for AI agents. You will bridge the gap between academic research and production deployment by building features that allow agents to learn, update, and recall information effectively.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Train and fine-tune models specifically for memory tasks including data extraction, consolidation, forgetting, and conflict resolution.
- Translate academic papers into functional prototypes, run benchmarks, and integrate successful concepts into the production stack.
- Create large-scale evaluation frameworks using offline metrics, gold sets, and online A/B testing to track performance.
- Collaborate with customers to identify technical challenges and test research-backed solutions in real-world environments.
- Coordinate with the engineering team to define data contracts and APIs that maintain high performance, low latency, and cost efficiency.
Requirements
- Professional experience applying RAG or information retrieval techniques to live products.
- Proven track record of training or fine-tuning LLMs and encoders using rigorous experimental design.
- Advanced Python skills with deep proficiency in PyTorch and working knowledge of vLLM or similar serving frameworks.
- Experience designing evaluation systems for complex language tasks.
- Ability to manage data pipelines for production models while meeting strict latency SLAs.
- Strong ability to communicate technical concepts to cross-functional partners and clients.
Nice to have
- Authorship of papers in major venues such as ACL, NeurIPS, ICML, or CVPR.
- Knowledge of privacy-focused machine learning, including data governance and differential privacy.
- Specialized background in memory systems, retrieval literature, or vector database internals.
- Expertise in embedding models, deduplication, and contradiction detection.
