About the role
Melio is looking for a senior professional to join the Risk domain within our Data Science team. You will focus on building fraud prevention models, shaping technical strategy, and advancing our use of AI agents.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Design, develop, and deploy machine learning and generative AI models to identify and block fraudulent activity.
- Take full ownership of projects from the initial concept through to production implementation.
- Define and evaluate agentic workflows that triage and explain risk-related decisions.
- Establish evaluation frameworks to ensure the reliability and accuracy of models before they reach production.
- Contribute to the broader data science strategy and maintain high technical standards for the department.
Requirements
- B.Sc in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
- Minimum 7 years of data science experience or 3 years of experience combined with a PhD.
- Proven ability to lead end-to-end machine learning projects.
- Experience managing imbalanced data, noisy labels, and the precision-recall balance required for risk modeling.
- Proficiency in generative AI, including the evaluation of AI agents and the use of foundational language models.
- Experience with cloud computing, large-scale data pipelines, and MLOps.
- Habit of using LLMs and agentic tools in daily workflows to automate recurring tasks.
Nice to have
- M.Sc or PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
- Background in fintech or risk-specific modeling, such as anomaly detection, fraud prevention, or anti-money laundering.
