Operations Engineer at Megaport.
About the role
Megaport is looking for an Operations Engineer to join our team in Sofia to maintain our global network infrastructure. You will handle level 3 support and network operations while focusing on automation and service scalability for our customers.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Perform maintenance and operations on the Megaport network.
- Resolve major network incidents and provide level 3 customer support.
- Manage network capacity including planning, forecasting, and deployment.
- Record all activities within internal OSS/BSS systems.
- Implement and maintain monitoring for network hardware.
- Coordinate with internal engineering teams and external vendors.
- Support sales, deployment, and network operations center staff through escalations.
- Write technical summaries for completed, planned, and proposed projects.
- Test, certify, and evaluate new software, systems, and hardware.
- Train network operations staff.
- Collaborate with engineering on network improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- Proven background in network maintenance, deployment, and incident resolution.
- Production experience with Service Provider technologies, specifically MPLS L2/L3 VPN, MPLS Traffic Engineering, BGP, and IS-IS.
- Production experience operating optical networks, including ROADM and DWDM systems.
- Production experience managing transit networks, peering relationships, and upstream/downstream connections.
- Production experience with Nokia, Cisco, and Juniper hardware.
- Experience managing fiber optics patching and hardware installations in third-party data centers.
- Knowledge of cloud-based networking and SDN concepts.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
- Ability to work autonomously and within remote teams.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

- Experience with Linux OS.
- Coding proficiency in Python or Perl.

Practical notes
- Hybrid work model: In-office attendance required Tuesday through Thursday.
- Schedule: 10-hour work days between 08:00 and 18:00.
- Weekend and public holiday shifts are required on a rotating basis.
- Compensation includes a base salary plus an annual 5 percent performance-based incentive bonus.
