Network Operations Engineer

About the role

Megaport is seeking a technical professional to maintain and scale our global Network as a Service platform. You will join a team of over 600 people to support our infrastructure and ensure high-quality connectivity for our customers.

What you'll do

• Manage and maintain the Megaport global network infrastructure.
• Resolve major network incidents and Level 3 customer technical issues.
• Oversee network capacity planning, forecasting, and deployment to ensure availability.
• Record all technical activities within internal OSS/BSS platforms.
• Configure and verify monitoring for all network equipment.
• Manage technical partnerships with vendors and internal engineering departments.
• Act as an escalation point for the Network Operations Centre, sales, and deployment teams.
• Draft technical summaries for planned and completed network projects.
• Test and certify new hardware, software, and systems.
• Create and deliver technical training for the Network Operations team.
• Collaborate with the Engineering department on network improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• Proven professional background in network incident resolution, mitigation, deployment, and maintenance.
• Experience with ISIS, BGP, MPLS Traffic Engineering, and MPLS L2/L3 VPN in production environments.
• Operational experience with optical networks, specifically DWDM and ROADM systems.
• Experience managing transit networks, including upstream, downstream, and peering relationships.
• Hands-on experience with Juniper, Cisco, and Nokia hardware.
• Experience with physical network hardware installation and single-mode fiber patching in third-party data centers.
• Ability to work autonomously and within remote teams in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and time management.

Nice to have

• Proficiency in Linux OS.
• Coding skills in Perl or Python.

Practical notes

• Hybrid work model requires three days per week in the Brisbane office.
• Role includes a rotating on-call schedule for weekends and public holidays approximately every 10 weeks.
