About the role
Megaport is seeking a Group Tax Manager to optimize global tax positions and ensure compliance for our Network as a Service (NaaS) platform. This role involves strategic planning, managing international tax requirements, and improving tax processes. You will contribute to our global growth and collaborate with finance leadership.

What you'll do
- Lead technical tax planning to enhance the company's worldwide tax standing.
- Offer insights and suggestions to boost tax efficiency and support global expansion.
- Evaluate the return on investment from external tax advisors in various regions and adjust strategies as needed.
- Represent the tax function in senior Finance discussions, ensuring clear communication with the CFO, external auditors, advisors, and the broader team.
- Drive continuous improvement projects, such as transfer pricing reviews, indirect tax automation, and global compliance initiatives.
- Oversee and expand Transfer Pricing compliance, ensuring intercompany agreements are properly executed and documented.
- Ensure timely submission of tax returns and other compliance documents in all jurisdictions.
- Manage all aspects of global tax compliance, including returns, disclosures, tax-effect accounting, indirect tax, and audits.
- Accurately document all key processes, procedures, and risks, especially for core regions like Australia, the USA, Ireland, and the UK.
- Coordinate with external tax advisors and auditors to guarantee accurate and timely delivery of returns, financial statement disclosures, and supporting documents.
- Ensure prompt and accurate calculation and payment of advance taxes in relevant regions.
- Develop and refine effective tax processes and controls, emphasizing automation, completeness, and accuracy.
- Prepare accurate tax disclosures for financial statements, working with external advisors and auditors to meet reporting deadlines.
- Effectively manage indirect tax compliance and implement suitable software tools.
- Collaborate openly within the Finance department, working closely with the broader team to resolve issues and build a strong tax foundation.
- Maintain strong working relationships with Finance, Accounting, and other teams across the USA, Australia, and globally.
- Communicate effectively across different functions and geographies to ensure tax risks and opportunities are clearly identified, managed, and reported.
Requirements
- Excellent ability to communicate, organize, plan, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision, including documenting all processes.
- CA or CPA qualified tax professional with at least 6 years of corporate tax experience, including international exposure.
- Experience gained in either Big 4 firms or in-house multinational environments is preferred.
- Strong technical understanding of Australian and international tax law and regulations, including cross-border financial flows.
- Knowledge of key taxation principles: Global Effective Tax Rates, Transfer Pricing, Permanent Establishment, withholding taxes, taxation on stock-based compensation, and deferred taxes.
- Ability to develop creative solutions for complex issues.
- Ability to work with the finance senior leadership team, manage multiple tasks concurrently, and meet deadlines.
- Solid IFRS Financial Accounting knowledge related to tax accounting.
Nice to have
- Experience managing global tax reporting systems for corporate income tax or indirect taxes.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics D365 or other large ERP systems.
