About the role
Mediabistro is seeking a Digital Manager to lead the digital initiatives for one of the oldest general-interest monthly publications in the United States. This role is essential in managing the website, online store, newsletters, and overall digital strategy. The publication has been influential in American intellectual life since 1850 and operates as a 501(c)(3) educational nonprofit.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Manage the design and development of the website to ensure it remains modern, user-friendly, and optimized for search engines.
- Prepare and launch monthly print content on the publication's website.
- Develop and analyze metrics to evaluate the success of digital campaigns, reviewing performance reports to enhance strategies.
- Execute front-end updates on the website.
- Produce and distribute e-newsletters.
- Coordinate with the fulfillment service to manage online subscriptions, store operations, and user support.
- Serve as the primary contact for external developers and IT consultants regarding back-end updates, cybersecurity, and technology issues.
- Collaborate with editorial, marketing, development, and advertising teams.
- Conduct monthly digital meetings with department heads to discuss website performance, e-newsletter metrics, Substack, and traffic analytics.
- Stay informed about digital trends and technologies, recommending new initiatives as needed.
- Supervise a digital assistant and assist in managing digital marketing interns.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a digital management role or similar position.
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, or a related field.
- Proven ability to create and implement comprehensive digital marketing strategies that achieve business objectives.
- Extensive knowledge of PPC advertising, SEO, and social media marketing.
- Strong leadership capabilities and experience in managing teams.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions.
- Proficiency in website editing tools, content management systems, email marketing platforms, and social media management tools.
- Familiarity with WordPress is required.
- Understanding of accessibility standards and best practices for digital content.
- Experience with Google Search Console, Google Tag Manager, Google Ads, and GA4 reporting is preferred.
- Familiarity with design tools such as Canva and Adobe Creative Cloud is a plus.
