Machine Learning Software Engineer at Matchgroup.
About the role
The Match Group AI team builds centralized technology for a global portfolio including Tinder, Hinge, Azar, Pairs, Match, and BLK. This role focuses on the engineering infrastructure required to deploy complex models into high-traffic production environments. You will work from the Seoul office to bridge the gap between research and real-world application for millions of users.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Transform research-grade models into scalable features for brands like Tinder and Hinge.
- Architect backend services and distributed systems to manage, scale, and monitor machine learning models.
- Create real-time and batch serving pipelines that prioritize low latency and reliability.
- Collaborate with ML engineers to deploy LLMs for features like profile assistance.
- Coordinate technical efforts with engineering teams in Palo Alto, LA, Vancouver, Dallas, Tokyo, and Seoul.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in backend, ML engineering, or data engineering.
- Solid grasp of computer science fundamentals including algorithms, data structures, and distributed system design.
- Proficiency in Python, Go, Java, Kotlin, or C#, with the ability to adapt to new technology stacks.
- Interest in the practical engineering challenges of deploying ML models.
- Ability to use AI-assisted tools like Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor to improve output.
- Professional proficiency in English for business meetings and complex technical discussions.
- Native-level fluency in Korean for cross-functional collaboration and cultural nuance.
Nice to have
- Experience managing the full ML lifecycle from initial training to production.
- Background in building backend servers that support millions of concurrent users.
- Practical use of serving frameworks such as vLLM, Triton, Ray Serve, or Seldon.
- Experience with big data or stream processing tools like Spark, Flink, or Kafka.
- History of working within cross-functional, diverse organizational structures.
