Technical Lead

About the role

Masabi is seeking a Technical Lead to guide the Passenger Apps team in developing and delivering native mobile and web applications. This role involves a balanced contribution between hands-on technical work and leadership, focusing on integrating the Justride SDK and public APIs. You will ensure the quality and timely release of applications used by transit agencies globally.

What you'll do

• Oversee the delivery of Passenger iOS, Android, and Web applications, resolving obstacles and maintaining predictable release schedules.
• Actively participate in technical implementation, design discussions, and code reviews, setting high standards for engineering quality.
• Drive the integration of Masabi's Justride SDK and public APIs into Passenger applications.
• Lead application migrations, manage releases, plan rollouts, and coordinate deployment activities.
• Support engineering practices that promote efficient delivery across the team.
• Guide and support a team of engineers through regular one-on-one meetings, coaching, performance feedback, and clear development discussions.
• Create an environment where engineers can grow, develop, and perform at their best.
• Collaborate closely with Product and Engineering stakeholders to align priorities, delivery plans, and team objectives.
• Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture.
• Contribute to hiring, onboarding, and team growth activities as needed.
• Provide visibility on delivery progress, risks, and dependencies to stakeholders.

Requirements

• A strong background as a hands-on engineer, proficient in at least one native platform (Swift/UIKit or Kotlin/Coroutines) and capable of working effectively across both.
• Experience leading technical delivery for engineering teams, ensuring quality through code reviews and design guidance.
• Direct experience managing and developing engineers, including conducting one-on-one meetings, coaching, and providing honest feedback.
• Comfortable working with multi-tenant or white-label products that serve diverse customer needs from a single codebase.
• Experience delivering and evolving production applications, including migration or modernization efforts.
• Knowledge and experience with SDK and API integrations.
• Comfortable using AI-assisted development tools and able to demonstrate their integration into engineering workflows.
• A calm communicator who keeps stakeholders informed and can balance coding responsibilities with leadership duties.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with release management, rollout strategies, and deployment processes.
• Knowledge of CI/CD tooling and engineering quality practices.
• Participation in hiring, onboarding, or team growth initiatives.
• Prior experience in the Fintech or Transit domains.
