Marqvision, a pioneering startup in the artificial intelligence sector, is seeking an Intellectual Property (IP) Specialist to join our dynamic team in Seoul, Gangnam-gu. Key facts
What you'll do
- Conduct thorough assessments of existing and potential intellectual property assets, including patents, trademarks, and copyrights, to identify opportunities for protection and commercialization.
- Collaborate with R&D teams to evaluate new inventions and technologies, providing guidance on patentability and IP strategy.
- Draft and file patent applications, ensuring compliance with local and international regulations while maintaining high-quality documentation.
- Monitor and analyze competitor IP activities, keeping abreast of industry trends and potential infringement issues.
- Develop and implement IP policies and procedures to educate employees on the importance of intellectual property and compliance requirements.
- Liaise with external legal counsel to manage IP litigation and enforcement actions, ensuring the protection of Marqvision's interests.
- Conduct IP audits to assess the effectiveness of current strategies and recommend improvements based on findings.
- Support business development efforts by providing IP-related insights during negotiations and partnerships, helping to maximize the value of our innovations.
- Prepare and present reports on IP portfolio status and strategy to senior management, ensuring alignment with overall business goals.
- Engage in continuous professional development to stay updated on changes in IP law and best practices in the industry.
- Participate in industry conferences and networking events to represent Marqvision and build relationships with key stakeholders in the IP community.
- Foster a collaborative environment by working closely with cross-functional teams, including legal, marketing, and product development, to ensure a cohesive approach to IP management.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in law, intellectual property, or a related field; a Master's degree or JD is preferred.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in intellectual property management, preferably within the technology or AI sectors.
- Strong understanding of patent law, trademark law, and copyright law, with practical experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications.
- Proven ability to analyze complex technical information and communicate it effectively to non-technical stakeholders.
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Proficient in using IP management software and tools to track and manage IP portfolios.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in both English and Korean.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced startup environment.

- Experience in AI technologies or related fields, providing a deeper understanding of the innovations being protected.
- Familiarity with international IP laws and regulations, especially in key markets such as the US, EU, and Asia.
- Previous experience in IP litigation or enforcement actions, providing insights into the legal landscape.
- Membership in relevant professional organizations, such as the International Trademark Association (INTA) or the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA).
- Experience in conducting training sessions or workshops on IP awareness and compliance for employees.
