Key Account Executive at Marqeta
About the role
This position focuses on expanding Marqeta's business within Europe by managing and growing key client relationships. You will be instrumental in understanding complex client needs and translating them into effective solutions.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Build and maintain strong relationships with executive-level contacts at client companies, focusing on those looking to innovate in B2B and consumer payments.
- Collaborate with internal departments like Product, Legal, Compliance, and Delivery to design and implement solutions that meet customer objectives.
- Drive new business by identifying and pursuing opportunities, responding to inquiries, and guiding deals from initial contact through to contract finalization.
- Manage the full sales cycle for enterprise clients, including qualifying leads, responding to RFIs/RFPs, and negotiating contracts.
- Develop a deep understanding of Marqeta's technology and its market value, effectively communicating its benefits to potential partners.
- Support the Sales Director in shaping the strategic direction for the European market.
- Maintain accurate records and reporting in Salesforce, including financial modeling and internal approval processes.
Requirements
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in sales or strategic business development roles.
- A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent practical experience.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the payments industry, particularly card issuing.
- Familiarity with the fintech landscape, B2B technology applications, and how technology platforms support business operations.
- Demonstrated financial acumen, with the ability to evaluate and model complex deal structures and contract financials.
- Confidence in representing Marqeta to C-suite executives and senior leadership at prospective client organizations.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and work effectively under pressure.
- Strong problem-solving capabilities and the ability to collaborate across teams to address customer needs.
- Excellent communication skills, including interpersonal, verbal, written, and presentation abilities.
- A positive, adaptable, and self-starting attitude, with the capacity to work independently.
Nice to have
- Experience in payments, investment banking, or strategic consulting.
- Prior experience working with a regulated program manager offering full-stack solutions.

Practical notes
- This role offers hybrid flexibility. Candidates within commuting distance of the London (Holborn) office are expected to be in the office two days per week. For candidates based elsewhere in the UK, the position is fully remote.
- The recruitment process includes an application submission, recruiter video call, hiring manager video call, a virtual "onsite" with 4-5 calls, and a presentation round.
