About the role
This role supports the Scientific and Technical Information Office (STINFO) by managing technical documents for internal and external use. You will help with the entire lifecycle of these documents, from initial creation and review to final publication and distribution. This position is crucial for ensuring that important technical information is accurate, properly controlled, and accessible to the right teams.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Manage data by creating reports, maintaining logs, spreadsheets, and government databases, ensuring correct document naming, version control, and archiving.
- Maintain the STINFO SharePoint site, providing guidance to Scientists and Engineers on workflows and distribution.
- Advise on RW-West Data Item Descriptions, preparing and updating DD Form 1423-1, refining Contract Data Requirements Lists (CDRLs), and helping customers identify relevant DIDs.
- Process DD Form 882, Report of Inventions and Subcontracts, for contract closeout, including tracking, preparing patent letters, and routing for approvals.
- Receive, track, and process DTIC Form 55 requests for limited information release, preparing official letters for approval.
- Prepare and distribute a monthly STINFO Status Metrics report by the fifth of each month, covering technical reports, papers, forms, and submissions.
- Monitor the STINFO Org email and direct inquiries to the appropriate personnel.
- Convert paper documents to digital formats, handle secure disposal of CUI/CTI, and manage office supplies.
- Assist with submitting items to DTIC promptly after presentations.
Requirements
- Three years of experience in editing.
- Strong editing skills for evaluating and refining technical written content, structure, and format.
- Comprehensive computer skills for formatting and generating reports.
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid state-issued driver's license and minimum California car insurance.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, reach, and occasionally lift items in various work environments.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
Nice to have
- Associate degree or higher education.
- Experience with STINFO office procedures and DTIC submissions.
- Familiarity with Department of Defense technical reporting requirements.
- Previous experience working on a military installation or directly supporting Air Force/Space Force operations.
