About the role
Mach Industries is building autonomous defense hardware to support national security. We are looking for an engineer to create and manage the automated systems that drive our production lines. You will work on-site to build reliable manufacturing processes from the ground up.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Build and deploy automated manufacturing setups featuring robotics, conveyors, vision systems, and PLCs.
- Program and maintain HMIs and industrial control systems.
- Evaluate production workflows to increase throughput and reduce costs.
- Commission and validate new manufacturing equipment.
- Perform root cause analysis and fix equipment performance issues.
- Work with mechanical, electrical, and quality teams to refine production.
- Document system schematics, code, and operating procedures.
- Manage version control for hardware, electrical, safety, pneumatic, and networking configurations.
Requirements
- Bachelor degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering.
- 3+ years of professional experience in industrial engineering or manufacturing automation.
- Practical experience programming PLCs and developing HMIs.
- Background in integrating robotics and industrial automation.
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve technical problems on the production floor.
- Familiarity with industrial communication standards.
Nice to have
- Experience in high-mix, low-volume or advanced manufacturing.
- Proficiency in machine vision and automated inspection.
- Experience with CAD software and mechanical integration.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.
- Background in defense, aerospace, or other regulated sectors.
- Experience with IEC 61131-3 structured text.
- Familiarity with safety standards like ISO 13849 or IEC 61508.
- Knowledge of UL508A, NFPA 70, and NFPA 79.
- Experience with EtherCAT, PROFINET, and OPC UA.
- Proficiency in Beckhoff TwinCAT 3, TwinCAT Automation Interface, or Siemens TIA Portal.
