About the role

We are hiring an Automation Test Engineer to support a major investment banking client. You will focus on testing a financial application that features a Windows-based interface and a microservices backend.

What you'll do

• Translate business requirements into detailed test cases and scenarios.
• Build and update automated scripts within a Java-based Spring Boot and Cucumber BDD framework.
• Increase automation coverage for new application features.
• Conduct end-to-end backend and API testing for microservices.
• Verify complex financial calculations and perform large-scale JSON response validation.
• Run database checks using SQL.
• Carry out load, stress, and performance testing on calculation-heavy components.
• Log and monitor bugs via JIRA.
• Work with developers and analysts to ensure software quality.
• Review code and manage scripts through Bitbucket.
• Optimize testing workflows and the existing automation framework.

Requirements

• Proficiency in automation testing principles.
• Experience with Java and object-oriented programming.
• Background in Spring Boot and Cucumber BDD.
• Understanding of microservices architecture and API testing.
• Ability to validate JSON and API responses.
• Competency in SQL for database verification.
• Experience with Git and Bitbucket for version control.
• Familiarity with JIRA for test and defect management.

Nice to have

• Experience with performance testing concepts.
• Practical knowledge of Apache JMeter.
