About the role
This position manages the API platform infrastructure, focusing on the configuration and reliability of API Gateways. You will work within the Cloud Data and Integration organization to support internal developers by providing governance, reusable code, and technical guidance.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Define the product roadmap for API management, including security, self-service features, and resiliency standards.
- Configure and maintain API security protocols such as OAuth, JWT, rate limiting, and IP filtering.
- Develop custom APIs and plugins to handle advanced logging, authentication, and traffic transformations.
- Build observability workflows using distributed tracing and metrics to identify performance bottlenecks.
- Create CI/CD pipelines using Gitlab to automate platform deployments.
- Provide training and documentation to internal stakeholders regarding API management best practices.
- Partner with product managers and scrum masters to manage project scope and technical deliverables.
Requirements
- Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Software Architecture, or equivalent industry experience.
- 3-5 years of experience with API management tools such as Kong, APIGEE, or AWS Gateway.
- Experience managing Kubernetes and AWS infrastructure.
- Proficiency in Lua and JavaScript.
- Expertise in observability tools, specifically Datadog and Splunk, and the OpenTelemetry framework.
- Experience with DevSecOps processes and tools, including Git, JFrog Artifactory, Jenkins, and HashiCorp products.
- Ability to work in an agile environment and mentor junior team members.
- Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. without sponsorship.
