Job description
Technical Account Manager at livekit.
About the role
Livekit is seeking an experienced Technical Account Manager to manage the technical relationships with key strategic accounts. This role involves guiding customers on the Livekit platform and acting as their internal advocate. You will help shape this new function within the company as it grows.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Manage the technical relationships and long-term success for a group of strategic accounts, often with advanced voice AI and real-time engineering teams.
- Conduct architecture reviews and design consultations to understand customer deployments, predict their growth, and recommend scalable solutions.
- Increase product usage by identifying gaps between customer needs and platform capabilities.
- Coordinate the Livekit team for each account, collaborating with Developer Success Engineers, Forward Deployed Engineers, and routing issues to support and engineering.
- Represent customer feedback internally, translating field insights into product, pricing, and positioning suggestions that influence the roadmap.
- Lead executive business reviews, connecting platform health to business results, anticipating technical risks, and aligning both teams on future steps.
- Be present with customers for major launches and executive meetings, and manage Livekit's response during critical escalations to keep customer leadership informed.
- Identify opportunities for expansion early and communicate them clearly to the sales team.
- Develop the engagement models and best practices for this new function within Livekit.
Requirements
- 8 or more years in technical, customer-facing roles such as Technical Account Manager, Solutions Architect, Sales Engineer, or a senior engineering position with significant customer interaction.
- A history of being a trusted technical advisor for engineering customers, whose judgment was relied upon for unclear technical paths.
- Proficiency in developer-platform fundamentals including APIs, SDKs, frameworks, and deployment patterns, enabling effective technical discussions with engineers.
- Familiarity with real-time, distributed, or developer-platform systems, sufficient to grasp customer technical challenges at scale.
- Ability to manage a customer portfolio proactively, tracking customer health rather than only reacting to problems.
- Clear and precise communication skills, both written and verbal, suitable for engineers and executives, without softening necessary recommendations.
Nice to have
- Direct experience with WebRTC, SIP, media servers, or voice AI infrastructure.
- Experience developing or operating LLM agent systems, voice AI pipelines, or other AI-native applications.
- Previous work at a developer tools or infrastructure company.
- Hands-on coding experience in Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Go.
- Contributions to open-source projects.
- Experience at an early-stage startup, including defining operational playbooks.
