About the role
Life360 is seeking a Staff Decision Scientist to act as a key strategic advisor within product, engineering, marketing, and finance departments. This role focuses on driving critical business decisions through data-driven insights, rather than solely producing reports. You will play a vital part in shaping the company's AI-native future by influencing tools and processes.

What you'll do
- Serve as the primary analytical strategist for your assigned business unit, collaborating with product managers, engineers, marketers, and finance professionals.
- Develop compelling narratives and present findings to leadership and teams to influence product roadmaps and resource allocation.
- Employ statistical inference, A/B testing, and causal modeling to establish cause-and-effect relationships.
- Design and implement measurement frameworks that accurately reflect user behavior and product engagement.
- Provide context and interpretation for data, understanding the human motivations behind user actions.
- Contribute to the development of AI-native analytics workflows, evaluating and adopting new tools and practices.
- Guide and mentor other individual contributors in advanced analytical techniques and AI-assisted workflows.
Requirements
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in analytics, data science, or decision science within a consumer technology company.
- An advanced degree in a quantitative discipline such as economics, statistics, quantitative social science, or operations research, or equivalent practical experience.
- Proven experience applying causal inference methodologies in real-world scenarios, including techniques like difference-in-differences, instrumental variables, regression discontinuity, synthetic controls, or propensity score matching.
- A demonstrated history of influencing business or product strategy with data, including specific examples of cross-functional impact.
- Experience with experimentation platforms such as Statsig or Optimizely.
- Proficiency in SQL and Python or R for statistical analysis.
- A problem-solving approach that prioritizes understanding and structuring complex issues before applying tools.
- A strong sense of ownership, taking responsibility from problem framing to recommendation implementation and impact tracking.
- An AI-native working style, utilizing AI tools as a collaborative partner for tasks and critical review.
- Demonstrated curiosity and initiative in exploring data to uncover insights proactively.
- Ability to influence strategy at a business unit level through clear framing and compelling evidence.
Nice to have
- Experience with subscription or freemium business models.
- Familiarity with analyzing international markets.
- Experience contributing to analytics engineering workflows or building dbt models.
- Background in growth, retention, or lifecycle analytics.
- Experience with LTV modeling, incrementality testing, or marketing mix modeling.

Practical notes
- Salary range for US-based candidates: $148,000 to $218,500 USD.
- Salary range for Canada-based candidates: 164,000 to 193,500 CAD.
- Compensation includes base pay, equity, and a comprehensive benefits package.
