About the role
Life360 is seeking a Senior Analytics Engineer to transform vast amounts of data into reliable insights. You will build and maintain data models and pipelines that support critical business decisions across various departments. This role involves a blend of analytics engineering and data engineering within our Databricks environment.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Develop and implement data models for analytical purposes, serving Product, Marketing, Operations, and Finance.
- Construct and manage dbt transformation processes, ensuring data quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
- Take ownership of curated datasets, ensuring clarity and traceability from raw data to business-ready formats.
- Collaborate with data engineers to build and maintain data pipelines and Delta Lake tables in Databricks.
- Work with analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to create durable data products for experimentation and advanced analytics.
- Establish data quality checks, monitoring, service level agreements, and alerts for key analytical datasets.
- Contribute to enhancing AI/LLM development support by creating tools and agents for code generation and system maintenance.
- Define and enforce data contracts with Data Engineers to ensure schema stability.
- Promote analytics engineering best practices, including version control, code reviews, testing, and documentation.
- Build user-friendly data marts and semantic layers to enable self-service analytics.
Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years in analytics engineering, data modeling, or a comparable role, with experience managing data products and collaborating across teams.
- Experience using AI/LLM coding assistants like GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or Claude Code, with a disciplined approach to reviewing and testing generated code.
- Expert-level SQL proficiency, including query optimization and performance tuning.
- Extensive experience with dbt, including its testing, documentation, and package management features.
- Strong Python programming skills for data manipulation, automation, and custom analytics.
- Solid understanding of dimensional modeling, star schemas, and other data modeling techniques.
- Familiarity with the Databricks platform, including SQL Warehouses, Delta Lake, and Unity Catalog. Experience with Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift is beneficial.
- Understanding of data orchestration frameworks and scheduling within data workflows.
- Experience with version control systems like Git and implementing CI/CD for analytics code.
- Strong business understanding to translate requirements into effective data models.
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
Nice to have
- Prior experience with advertising, ad tech, or media data.
- Knowledge of data governance, privacy, and compliance regulations such as GDPR, CCPA, and SOX.
- Familiarity with BI tools like Tableau, Looker, or Mode.

Practical notes
- Salary range for US-based candidates: $148,000 to $218,500 USD.
- Salary range for Canada-based candidates: 171,500 to $201,000 CAD.
- Compensation includes base pay, equity, and a comprehensive benefits package.
