About the role
Level creates educational technology that blends academic curriculum with interactive design to improve student practice. We are seeking a Technical Designer to bridge the gap between pedagogy, design, and engineering to build polished learning experiences.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Partner with a cross-disciplinary team to manage instructional design for EdTech content from initial concept to final production.
- Build and maintain a large library of cohesive, high-quality learning modules and activities.
- Develop pedagogically relevant animations and visual assets.
- Coordinate with content specialists, product managers, engineers, and UX/UI designers to convert instructional goals into interactive digital products.
- Utilize UX/UI design principles and systems thinking to innovate new learning activities.
- Lead the playtesting process by observing sessions, implementing content fixes, and escalating technical issues to the appropriate teams.
- Architect solutions with future extensibility in mind to support broader use cases.
- Use generative AI tools to scale content development workflows while ensuring all AI-assisted output meets standards for pedagogical accuracy and developmental appropriateness.
Requirements
- 3+ years of professional experience in product design, interactive content development, or general design.
- Proficiency in scripting or modding within game engines such as Unreal, Blueprints, Lua, or Godot.
- Working knowledge of UI/UX design principles.
- Demonstrated ability to rapidly prototype and adapt existing tools to achieve specific learning outcomes.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced startup environment.
- Strong communication skills to act as a translator between engineering, product, and design teams.
- A portfolio or work samples showcasing animation, game design, or instructional design projects.
Nice to have
- Prior experience working as a K-12 classroom teacher.
- Background in building adaptive or personalized learning systems.
- Experience integrating research findings directly into product or content strategy.
