About the role
Level creates interactive educational experiences that help students master academic skills through engaging digital practice. We are looking for an experienced educator or instructional designer to develop mathematics content that powers our virtual teacher, the Guide. You will transform complex math concepts into accessible, scalable lessons for students in grades K-12.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Create original math pedagogy, practice problems, and assessments for students from kindergarten through high school.
- Sequence learning materials to match cognitive development and student mastery levels.
- Design corrective pathways that address common student misconceptions and errors.
- Partner with designers, behavioral scientists, and engineers to integrate motivational frameworks into digital lessons.
- Build scaffolded instruction that adheres to principles of cognitive load management and mastery learning.
- Contribute to the development of efficient, repeatable systems for high-quality content production.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience in K-12 math teaching, curriculum development, or a technical field like engineering or mathematics combined with real-world quantitative experience and classroom teaching.
- Proven history of designing effective lessons and assessments for digital or interactive environments.
- Deep understanding of how students learn mathematics, including developmental progressions and common pitfalls.
- Ability to write clear, concise educational content.
- Strong organizational skills to manage content creation at scale.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary teams alongside technical and creative staff.
- Flexibility to design content across the entire K-12 grade spectrum.
Nice to have
- Proficiency with new software platforms and AI-assisted workflows.
- Practical experience in software development or engineering.
- Background in edtech or digital product creation.
- Formal academic training in education, learning sciences, mathematics, or engineering.
- Experience building content for personalized or adaptive learning systems.
- Familiarity with self-determination theory or other educational motivational models.
- Experience managing content production workflows.
