About the role

LeafLink operates a large B2B cannabis platform that processes over 5 billion dollars in annual wholesale orders. This position focuses on developing the backend services and user interfaces that power our commerce and traceability systems.

Key facts

What you'll do

• Design and implement backend services for commerce workflows and integrations.
• Build and maintain user-facing frontend surfaces.
• Develop production-grade code using Python, Django, and Django REST Framework.
• Design scalable system solutions in collaboration with product and engineering teams.
• Evolve service-oriented and event-driven architectures using tools like SQS, SNS, or event buses.
• Manage PostgreSQL databases, including data modeling, schema design, and query optimization.
• Deploy and monitor services within AWS environments.
• Improve CI/CD pipelines to ensure efficient testing and deployment cycles.
• Troubleshoot production incidents and perform root cause analysis.
• Modernize and refactor legacy codebases.
• Participate in code reviews and promote high engineering standards.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional backend engineering experience.
• Proficiency in Python and Django.
• Experience creating and maintaining REST APIs with Django REST Framework.
• Background working with PostgreSQL and managing large datasets.
• Understanding of backend architecture, service design, and data modeling.
• Experience with distributed systems and event-driven workflows.
• Familiarity with asynchronous processing and background job queues.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS cloud environments.
• Knowledge of automated testing, observability, and CI/CD practices.
• Ability to work autonomously on ambiguous technical problems.

• Experience in regulated industries such as fintech or cannabis.
