About the role
LeafLink is looking for an Engineering Manager to guide a team focused on developing and enhancing the technology behind our B2B eCommerce platform. This position involves people management, technical direction, and ensuring successful product delivery. You will be instrumental in helping your team navigate technical challenges and deliver high-quality solutions.

What you'll do
- Guide, mentor, and develop a team of engineers, fostering their professional growth and daily effectiveness.
- Provide technical leadership, setting direction and ensuring sound architectural and design choices.
- Understand your team's systems deeply, offering guidance on architecture, scalability, reliability, and security.
- Collaborate with Product Management to shape roadmaps, plan initiatives, and manage dependencies.
- Translate business goals into clear technical strategies for the team.
- Oversee the technical execution of complex projects from concept to production.
- Balance product delivery with essential investments in system health, technical debt, and developer efficiency.
- Proactively identify and manage technical risks and constraints.
- Drive team accountability for commitments while encouraging open communication about challenges.
- Coordinate with other engineering leaders to manage cross-team dependencies and maintain architectural consistency.
- Improve team processes and effectiveness using data and feedback.
- Ensure a well-managed backlog that supports predictable execution.
- Participate in incident response and troubleshooting, providing technical leadership.
- Recruit, onboard, and retain engineering talent, building an inclusive environment.
- Cultivate a culture of technical excellence, ownership, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Proven experience leading engineering teams and driving impact through technical direction and people development.
- Strong technical judgment to guide architecture and design decisions.
- A track record of leading complex technical initiatives from start to finish.
- Experience developing engineers at various career levels.
- Proficiency in modern full-stack application development, including frontend, backend services, APIs, and distributed systems.
- Experience with JavaScript and TypeScript, including React and Node.js.
- Experience with service-oriented, API-driven, or distributed architectures.
- Understanding of relational databases, asynchronous processing, messaging systems, and third-party integrations.
- Experience balancing product delivery with investments in technical debt, scalability, and reliability.
- Strong project leadership skills, including roadmap planning and risk management.
- Experience using metrics to improve team effectiveness and predictability.
- Experience with cloud-native infrastructure and modern delivery practices (AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Exceptional critical thinking and analytical abilities.
- A leadership style that fosters accountability and empowers engineers.

- Experience with eCommerce, B2B marketplaces, financial systems, or transaction-heavy platforms.
