About the role
LeafLink is seeking a business-oriented Corporate Counsel to join our legal team during a period of significant expansion. This role offers the chance to be a key legal advisor within a growing technology company, handling a diverse array of legal and business challenges with efficiency and a positive approach.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Provide strategic legal counsel on commercial, regulatory, and operational matters.
- Oversee relationships with external legal counsel for specialized areas like regulatory, employment, litigation, and corporate law.
- Create, review, negotiate, and interpret various commercial contracts, including enterprise client agreements, financial services contracts, technology partnerships, and data licensing.
- Collaborate with the Sales team to accelerate deal closures and support strategic initiatives such as partnerships, corporate development, and new product introductions.
- Offer practical legal guidance on commercial transactions, product development, data privacy, employment law, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance. Work with Product and Engineering teams on legal aspects of new products, platform updates, data use, and emerging technologies like AI.
- Develop and maintain the company's commercial legal framework, including standard contract forms, guidelines, process improvements, and legal workflows.
- Assist with board and investor relations, including preparing board materials and coordinating with outside counsel on governance issues.
- Identify and communicate legal risks while facilitating business objectives.
Requirements
- A Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school and an active license to practice law in a U.S. state.
- A minimum of 3 to 5 years of legal experience, ideally including time at a prominent law firm, a technology company, a fintech firm, or a combination.
- Proven ability to work independently and at a fast pace in a dynamic environment.
- Strong judgment and comfort managing matters autonomously, knowing when to escalate issues or involve external counsel and company leadership.
- Experience drafting, negotiating, and interpreting commercial agreements for SaaS, FinTech products and services, master services agreements, data licensing, technology, and general commercial deals.
- Broad legal knowledge to identify and address legal issues in new product offerings (e.g., regulatory, contract, intellectual property, privacy, consumer protection, risk) and the ability to communicate practical, risk-aware solutions.
- A problem-solving mindset with a proactive attitude, willing to collaborate across departments and contribute where needed.
Nice to have
- Prior experience advising companies in regulated industries, fintech, payments, SaaS, or technology sectors.
Skills & tools
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of conveying information effectively to both legal and non-legal audiences at all organizational levels.

- Proficiency in understanding complex subjects and developing streamlined solutions that appropriately manage risk.
