About the role
This position serves as a key technical advisor for LaunchDarkly's largest prospective and existing clients. You will be instrumental in supporting the enterprise sales strategy by guiding customers through technical evaluations and expanding their use of our platform. Success in this role requires deep technical acumen, a customer-first approach, and the ability to quickly develop tailored solutions.

What you'll do
Guide technical discovery, design system architectures, and implement proof-of-concepts during the pre-sales phase.
Collaborate with account executives and customer success managers to articulate the technical advantages of our offerings.
Present impactful demonstrations, conduct workshops, and develop proposals for both executive and technical audiences.
Build trusted relationships with clients, identifying key technical advocates and positioning yourself as a strategic partner.
Communicate customer feedback and requirements to internal product and engineering teams to help shape the product roadmap.
Lead technical projects across different regions and contribute to the development of global SE tools and processes.
Mentor less experienced team members, promote technical best practices, and share industry knowledge within the SE team.
Maintain expert-level understanding of the LaunchDarkly platform, its integrations, industry trends, and emerging technologies.
Respond to requests for proposals and manage technical environments to support enterprise sales efforts.
Translate complex client needs into practical, scalable, and sustainable technical solutions.
Represent LaunchDarkly at industry events and client meetings, which may involve travel.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
A minimum of 12 years of experience in a customer-facing solutions engineering, sales engineering, or systems architecture role.
Comprehensive knowledge of cloud platforms, with demonstrated expertise in at least one major provider (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
Proven ability to lead and document proof-of-concept projects and cultivate technical champions within client organizations.
Experience with security and compliance frameworks such as PII, PCI, and HIPAA.
Extensive background in areas like the software development lifecycle (SDLC), cloud architecture, or DevOps.
Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with a history of sharing industry insights.
Must be able to travel up to 50% of the time.

Compensation ranges for this role (Level 5) are:
Zone 1 (San Francisco/Bay Area, NYC Metro, Boston, Seattle): $240,000 - $330,000
Zone 2 (Irvine, LA, Monterey, Santa Barbara, Santa Rosa, Austin, Portland, Philadelphia, Chicago): $216,000 - $297,000
Zone 3 (All other US locations): $204,000 - $281,000
These figures represent base salary and do not include Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), health, vision, dental insurance, or mental health benefits. Actual compensation will vary based on skills, experience, and location.
