SDK Software Engineer, AI

About the role

This position involves developing the core customer interface for our AI features, focusing on the SDKs that empower users to manage and optimize their generative AI capabilities. You will contribute to building high-performance, resilient software that is central to our product's functionality.

Key facts

What you'll do

• Develop and enhance our open-source AI SDKs, incorporating new features and adhering to modern development standards.
• Work with product and engineering teams to bring significant new capabilities to market.
• Improve the developer experience within our SDKs.
• Maintain our open-source codebases.
• Identify areas for enhancement and promote best practices in software development.
• Contribute to technology and product strategy discussions.

Requirements

• Proven experience building software libraries and packages for other developers.
• 8+ years of professional experience with Python and Typescript.
• Experience with AI SDKs, such as those from OpenAI or Vercel.
• Solid understanding of computer science principles.
• Commitment to collaborative and communicative teamwork.
• Ability to work independently and solve complex problems.
• Strong background in testing, including unit, integration, load tests, and benchmarks.
• Experience writing production-grade code with a focus on quality and maintainability.
• Prior contributions to open-source projects.

Nice to have

• Experience with other languages present in LaunchDarkly's technology stack.

• Compensation ranges for Level 4 roles within the US are:
• Zone 1 (San Francisco/Bay Area, NYC Metro, Boston, Seattle): $191,800 - $263,670
• Zone 2 (Irvine, LA, Monterey, Santa Barbara, Santa Rosa, Austin, Portland, Philadelphia, Chicago): $172,600 - $237,270
• Zone 3 (All other US locations): $163,000 - $224,070
• Total compensation includes salary, Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), health, vision, and dental insurance, and mental health benefits.
