About the role
LaunchDarkly seeks a Developer Advocate to help new users transition from signing up to becoming active, successful customers. You will be the primary human contact for developers who start trials or use our free tier, guiding them to realize the full value of our platform. This is a new, experimental role where you will help shape the process through continuous learning and iteration.

What you'll do
Engage with trial and developer-tier signups identified by the Growth team, focusing on those who fit our ideal customer profile.
Assist users in integrating an SDK, finding relevant documentation, and achieving meaningful usage of the platform.
Provide personalized, problem-solving support for technical challenges, such as installation issues or finding appropriate examples for their technology stack.
Develop and share public-facing content, including tutorials, videos, and blog posts, to build recognition as a helpful practitioner.
Create content and host sessions that highlight the benefits of using LaunchDarkly beyond basic feature flagging, such as experimentation and observability.
Build and maintain AI-assisted workflows to scale outreach, suggest next steps, and analyze user behavior, ensuring widespread helpfulness.
Provide feedback to the Growth and Product teams on user activation patterns, common roadblocks, and indicators of success.
Direct sales inquiries, support escalations, and product feedback to the appropriate internal teams.
Requirements
A background in a technical role, such as a developer, support engineer, or solutions engineer, with the ability to troubleshoot SDK integrations.
A strong desire to help developers solve problems and a genuine empathy for their challenges.
An interest in understanding and improving business processes related to user acquisition and activation.
Proficiency with AI tools and experience building custom AI workflows.
Excellent communication skills across written, video, and live presentation formats.
Comfort with adapting to evolving expectations and helping to define new processes in a new role.
Nice to have
Previous experience in developer advocacy or growth roles at a product-led developer tools company.
An established online presence or content creation history targeting developers.
Experience with lead scoring, intent signals, or product analytics.
Familiarity with a wide range of programming languages and frameworks, and experience with multiple SDKs.
Skills & tools
AI tools, SDK integration, content creation (writing, video), live presentations, troubleshooting.
Practical notes
Salary ranges depend on geographic zones within the US:
Zone 1 (e.g., San Francisco/Bay Area, NYC, Boston, Seattle): $136,000 - $187,000
Zone 2 (e.g., Irvine, LA, Austin, Portland, Chicago): $122,000 - $168,000
Zone 3 (All other US locations): $116,000 - $159,000
Compensation includes Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), health, vision, dental insurance, and mental health benefits.
