Join a company building an open-source data lake for multimodal AI. This role involves establishing and refining the entire hiring process, collaborating with leadership to attract and onboard top talent. You will shape the recruiting function from its beginnings.

What you'll do

• Develop and improve LanceDB's complete hiring workflow for both technical and business positions, from initial outreach to candidate acceptance.
• Manage and optimize our recruiting platforms and tools, including the ATS, sourcing, and AI recruiting systems.
• Create an excellent candidate experience at every stage, ensuring a quick and consistent process that reflects our company values.
• Recruit for highly technical roles, such as systems and database engineers (many using Rust), alongside go-to-market roles in sales, marketing, and developer relations.
• Work closely with hiring managers to define job requirements, write compelling descriptions, and standardize interview procedures for each department.
• Actively find candidates through direct outreach, team referrals, open-source communities, and industry events.

Requirements

• 8 or more years of recruiting experience, ideally within a rapidly expanding startup or technical organization.
• Demonstrated history of building and standardizing recruiting processes from scratch, with a focus on operational excellence.
• Direct experience managing and improving applicant tracking systems (ATS) and AI recruiting tools.
• Proven capability to develop and implement innovative talent attraction strategies and secure high-quality candidates for both technical and go-to-market roles.
• Dedication to providing a positive candidate experience while maintaining an effective and fast-paced hiring process.
• A data-oriented approach, using recruiting analytics to enhance hiring results.
• Comfortable recruiting for complex technical positions (like infrastructure and database engineering) as well as sales, marketing, and other business functions.
• Experience recruiting for a remote-first, distributed team.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment.
• Strong communication skills to convey LanceDB's vision to prospective hires.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and negotiation abilities.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with the AI/ML, data infrastructure, or developer tools ecosystem.
• Experience supporting international or multi-country hiring.
