About the role
Lambda is seeking a player-coach to lead the Platform product group, focusing on the security, observability, and billing infrastructure that powers our AI cloud. You will manage a team of three product managers while personally driving the platform roadmap and strategy to ensure our enterprise customers have a reliable, scalable experience.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Recruit, manage, and mentor product managers for the Security, Observability, and Billing domains.
- Establish the product strategy and roadmap for the platform layer, balancing immediate needs with long-term goals.
- Collaborate with platform engineering leadership to align technical architecture with business objectives.
- Design and improve usage-based billing systems for GPU compute, covering both on-demand and contract-based models.
- Develop identity and security frameworks to support enterprise-grade machine learning workflows.
- Use fleet telemetry and customer feedback to drive data-informed product decisions.
- Ensure horizontal platform capabilities support core products like the Lambda Cloud API, 1-Click Clusters, and On-Demand GPU Instances.
Requirements
- 10+ years of product management experience, specifically with infrastructure or platform products.
- 3+ years of experience managing or formally leading product managers.
- Proven ability to influence stakeholders across engineering, design, and executive levels without relying on formal authority.
- Strong execution skills, including the ability to launch, measure, and iterate on complex systems.
- Ability to engage in technical architecture discussions and evaluate engineering tradeoffs.
- Exceptional written communication skills for executive-level documentation.
- Must be able to work from the Bellevue or San Francisco office 4 days per week.
Nice to have
- Experience building monetization or billing systems for usage-based products.
- Background in developing security, compliance, or identity surfaces for enterprise clients.
- Experience with telemetry, observability, or tools such as Grafana and Prometheus.
- Familiarity with AI infrastructure, GPU compute, or high-performance computing.
- Experience building a product team from the ground up, including managing hiring processes.
