Software Engineer, Infrastructure

About the role

This position focuses on building the foundational systems and abstractions that support our entire engineering organization. You will split your time equally between backend development and infrastructure engineering while working to enhance developer experience, observability, and system performance.

What you'll do

• Lead major engineering initiatives and provide technical mentorship to team members.
• Design and implement improvements for database sharding, event bus performance, and search system scalability.
• Define and track SLIs, SLOs, and SLAs to ensure high system availability and performance.
• Collaborate with the CTO and security teams to drive architectural strategy and platform compliance.
• Manage security vulnerability remediation and coordinate upgrades for end-of-life software.
• Develop internal tools and automate infrastructure processes to reduce systemic inefficiencies.
• Lead complex system migrations and architectural changes to meet business goals.

Requirements

• Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of experience in building and maintaining large-scale, distributed web applications.
• Mastery of at least one high-level language such as Go, Python, or JavaScript.
• Experience with NoSQL databases, specifically MongoDB.
• Proven ability to lead technical architecture discussions and mentor other engineers.
• Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
• Experience with database sharding configurations and developing internal tooling.
