About the role
Kpler is seeking a leader to oversee our maritime data operations and manage the accuracy of our vessel and company intelligence. You will guide a team of analysts while serving as the primary authority on maritime data logic to support our global client base.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Mentor and develop a team of data analysts to improve performance and ownership.
- Serve as the technical authority for vessel particulars and company business rules.
- Integrate new data sources into existing databases and manage automation workflows.
- Create and test business logic, build dashboards, and curate high-quality datasets.
- Coordinate resources, identify training gaps, and manage team output.
- Partner with engineering and product departments to refine infrastructure and data delivery.
- Track KPIs and OKRs to ensure data quality aligns with company goals.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in data management or analytics.
- 2+ years of direct experience managing technical teams.
- Deep subject matter expertise in the maritime industry, specifically regarding shipping operations and vessel data.
- Advanced proficiency in Python and SQL.
- Experience building and optimizing ETL pipelines, working with APIs, and using web-scraping frameworks.
- Familiarity with data visualization software such as Looker or Tableau.
- Understanding of statistical methods for creating automated data validation.
- Bachelor or Master degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Maritime Studies, or a related field.

- Experience with project management.
- Familiarity with Dataiku or similar workflow automation platforms.
