About the role
Join the Data Foundations team to build and scale the core systems behind the Healthcare Map. You will transform complex healthcare data into reliable assets that drive internal innovation and customer-facing applications.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Develop and maintain large-scale production data pipelines using Python, SQL, and Airflow.
- Process massive healthcare datasets including claims, EHR, and reference data into usable products.
- Implement data quality checks, lineage tracking, observability, and monitoring to ensure system reliability.
- Troubleshoot performance bottlenecks and complex data issues within high-compute workflows.
- Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Platform teams to design scalable technical solutions.
- Manage CI/CD processes, documentation, and rotational production support.
- Use AI-augmented tools for coding, debugging, documentation, and architectural analysis.
Requirements
- Experience working with healthcare data such as claims, clinical, RWE, provider, or patient datasets.
- Proficiency with coding systems like ICD-10, CPT, NDC, or NPI.
- Hands-on experience building and debugging production-grade data pipelines at scale.
- Advanced skills in Python and SQL.
- Experience with workflow orchestration tools like Airflow.
- Experience with Spark or similar distributed processing frameworks.
- Proven ability to design and operate data infrastructure within AWS.
- Strong aptitude for root-cause analysis and production troubleshooting.
Nice to have
- Experience delivering external-facing data products via APIs or serving layers.
- Ability to optimize architectures for cost, versioning, and high-volume productization.
- Experience applying agentic workflows or AI to data engineering and operations.
- Success working in high-growth or ambiguous environments.
Skills & tools
- Python, SQL, Airflow, AWS, Spark, AI-augmented engineering tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini).
Practical notes
- Salary range (SF Bay Area and NYC): $196,000 to $230,000 USD.
- Salary range (All other US locations): $170,000 to $200,000 USD.
