About the role
You will define and champion KOHO's multichannel creative vision across campaigns, product storytelling, content, events, social, and advertising while being accountable for measurable business outcomes. You are a player-coach who conceptually leads and produces key work yourself when the work demands it. You will lead and develop a multidisciplinary creative team of art directors, designers, copywriters, and producers, setting the creative standard for every touchpoint. You will shape how the creative organization operates, establish the systems and culture that enable great work, and serve as the senior creative voice across the company. You will partner closely with Growth, Lifecycle, Product Marketing, and Product leaders to connect creative excellence with business impact and translate briefs into powerful ideas. You will oversee photo and video shoots alongside the Studios team and freelance production crews while managing freelance talent and agency partners during campaign surges. You will help establish creative processes, review cadences, and quality standards as the department scales, and present concepts and creative work to senior stakeholders with clarity and conviction.

- Set the creative standard for all work, providing clear direction and feedback across both art direction and copy to ensure consistency.
- Work with product marketing to translate briefs into powerful creative ideas that drive engagement and meet business objectives.
- Oversee photo and video shoots alongside the Studios team and freelance production crews, managing timelines and quality.
- Brief and manage freelance talent and agency partners during campaign surges, ensuring alignment with brand and scope.
- Help establish creative processes, review cadences, and quality standards as the department scales to support sustainable growth.
- Present concepts and creative work to senior stakeholders with clarity and conviction, framing decisions around outcomes and user impact.
- Build the systems, processes, and review structures that enable high-quality creative output at scale while maintaining agility.
- Oversee external agencies, freelancers, production partners, and photo/video shoots as needed to deliver integrated campaigns.
- Set art direction and copy direction for campaigns, brand, web, product, video, events, and social, ensuring coherence across all touchpoints.
Requirements
- 15+ years of experience leading creative teams and organizations in ambitious, fast-paced environments with significant time at agencies or in-house teams that think like agencies.
- A portfolio that shows conceptual range across both copy and art direction, featuring big ideas that work across mediums and solve complex problems.
- Experience working across the marketing stack, with a solid understanding of the overall marketing department's objectives beyond just creative execution.
- Ability to collaborate with product design to ensure consistency and design cohesiveness across digital and physical experiences.
- Experience directing video and motion work, not just static and copy, demonstrating an understanding of narrative and pacing in moving images.
- Someone who is actively utilizing AI in their creative process today to augment ideation, execution, and iteration.
- Proven ability to direct and elevate writers, art directors, and designers, providing mentorship that raises the quality of their work.
- Deep expertise across copywriting, advertising, campaigns, content, and production, understanding how each discipline contributes to business outcomes.
- Strong creative instincts with a portfolio demonstrating conceptual excellence across multiple channels and mediums, from social to long-form.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary teams, developing talent, and creating environments where creatives can do their best work through structure and psychological safety.
- Strong organizational and operational skills, with the ability to structure teams, allocate resources, and establish effective ways of working under ambiguity.
- Executive-level communication and stakeholder management skills, able to influence without authority and align diverse perspectives.
- Experience directing video, motion, digital, and integrated campaign work, showing fluency in end-to-end campaign execution.
- A strong point of view on creative strategy and execution that balances bold ideas with measurable impact and business constraints.
Nice to have
- Experience in financial services, fintech, or regulated industries where clarity and trust in messaging are critical.
- Background building remote-first, asynchronous creative teams and managing distributed collaboration.
- Familiarity with AI-native creative tools and workflows that enhance speed and experimentation.
- Demonstrated success launching large-scale, integrated campaigns that span digital, social, events, and paid media.
- Experience mentoring senior creative talent and leading creative hiring and onboarding.
Practical notes
This is a full-time remote position based in Canada (KOHO office). The role reports to the Chief Growth Officer and requires comfort with asynchronous collaboration and flexible hours focused on outcomes. Travel may be required for shoots, stakeholder meetings, or events as needed.
