About the company
Kindred is a members-only network that facilitates home exchanges. The company was founded in 2021 and is headquartered in San Francisco. Kindred operates a platform that enables direct one-to-one home swaps between members. It also offers a credit-based system that allows members to travel by hosting guests in their own homes. The service focuses on North America and Europe. In 2025 the company reported over 300,000 homes listed across more than 150 cities in those regions. The model relies on a verified membership community to build trust between hosts and guests. Members pay for access to the network rather than paying nightly rental fees. The platform includes tools for communication, scheduling, and review management. Kindred positions itself as an alternative to traditional short-term rental marketplaces. The company emphasizes reciprocal hospitality and long-term community building. Its growth reflects increasing interest in home exchange as a travel option. The team works to maintain safety standards through identity verification and member support. Kindred continues to expand its inventory in key urban and vacation destinations. The business combines technology with a membership model to reduce the cost of travel accommodation.
