Senior Modeling & Simulation at Kepler.
About the role
Kepler is seeking a Senior Modeling and Simulation Engineer to build the frameworks and digital twins that define our next-generation space systems. You will work within the Solutions Architecture team to create tools that guide spacecraft design, manufacturing, and mission operations.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Build reusable simulation frameworks and modeling tools to facilitate rapid analysis of mission concepts and payloads.
- Partner with subject matter experts to simulate interactions between ground systems, spacecraft subsystems, and operational workflows.
- Create simulation capabilities for RF, optical imaging, communications, and ISR missions.
- Compare digital twin performance against actual in-orbit operational data.
- Automate data validation, documentation generation, and continuous integration testing.
- Train internal users on simulation best practices and tool usage.
- Optimize the balance between simulation fidelity and runtime performance.
Requirements
- Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or Applied Mathematics.
- 7+ years of professional software development experience using modern engineering practices.
- Proven track record of end-to-end software delivery, including requirements gathering, development, integration, and user feedback loops.
- Ability to manage trade-offs between schedule, budget, simulation performance, and fidelity.
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and communication skills for explaining complex technical concepts.
Nice to have
- Master degree in a relevant technical field.
- Proficiency in Python and C/C++.
- Background in modeling aerospace systems, remote sensing, or optical/RF payloads.
- Experience with STK, GMAT, Orekit, Basilisk, or AGI tools.
- Knowledge of orbital mechanics, MBSE, flight software, or hardware-in-the-loop testing.
- Experience with AI, machine learning, LLMs, or optimization algorithms.
- Familiarity with cloud-based simulation, high-performance computing, or distributed frameworks.
