FPGA Digital Design Engineering Intern at Kepler.
About the role
Kepler is seeking an intern to contribute to the development of our next generation of satellites and ground stations. You will write RTL code and support our space-based connectivity infrastructure.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Update and maintain the existing FPGA codebase, specifically focusing on software-defined radio and software-defined network systems.
- Create custom IP blocks for satellite and ground station features.
- Integrate support for communication interfaces and sensors including I2C, SPI, and UART.
- Implement high-speed FPGA interfaces such as 10G Ethernet, JESD204b, and Aurora.
Requirements
- Completion of at least 2 years in a Computer or Electrical Engineering degree program or equivalent.
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate program at a Canadian post-secondary institution with a plan to return to studies after the term.
- Proficiency in VHDL, Verilog, or SystemVerilog, with the expectation of working primarily in SystemVerilog.
- Availability to begin a full-time position in January 2027.
- Ability to work from the Toronto office 2 to 3 days per week for team collaboration.
Nice to have
- Practical knowledge of DSP algorithms.
- Experience with embedded programming and C++.
- Scripting proficiency in Tcl, Python, or bash.
- Hands-on experience gained through university design teams or personal projects.
