What you'll do
- Collaborate with project managers and engineers to develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring timely completion of tasks and milestones.
- Prepare and review project documentation, including contracts, change orders, and submittals, to ensure compliance with project specifications and regulations.
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, assess quality, and identify any potential issues that may arise during construction.
- Assist in the preparation of cost estimates and budgets, providing detailed analysis to support financial decision-making.
- Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure that materials and services are delivered on time and meet project requirements.
- Facilitate communication between various stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies, to ensure smooth project execution.
- Maintain accurate records of project activities, including daily reports, meeting minutes, and correspondence, to support project accountability.
- Participate in project meetings, providing updates on progress and addressing any concerns or challenges that may arise.
- Support the implementation of safety protocols and best practices on-site, contributing to a safe working environment for all team members.
- Utilize project management software and tools to track project performance and generate reports for management review.
- Assist in the development of project closeout documentation, ensuring that all deliverables are completed and submitted in accordance with contractual obligations.
- Stay current with industry trends and advancements in engineering practices to continuously improve project outcomes and efficiency.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in an engineering or construction role, preferably in an office environment.
- Proficiency in project management software, such as Microsoft Project, Primavera, or similar tools.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and regulations.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD or other design software is a plus.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
Nice to have
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
- Experience with sustainable building practices and green certifications.
- Knowledge of local building codes and regulations specific to Contra Costa County.
- Previous experience in a similar role within the engineering or construction industry.
