Software Development Engineer IV

About the role

Jumio is seeking a senior backend engineer to guide the technical strategy for systems that deploy and manage machine learning models. You will work alongside product and platform groups to create high-performance services for biometrics and identity verification.

Key facts

What you'll do

• Architect backend services focused on biometrics and ML model delivery.
• Coordinate with platform and backend departments on company-wide technical projects.
• Design platform features in partnership with business and engineering stakeholders.
• Oversee architectural reviews and provide mentorship to improve engineering standards.
• Develop and support backend systems for ML model execution.
• Track performance, reliability, and scaling of production services.
• Manage service operations on AWS using ECS, Fargate, SageMaker, EC2, and Kubernetes.
• Handle both batch and real-time inference processes.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automation for deployments.

Requirements

• Proficiency in backend development using Java.
• Practical experience with Python, particularly for ML workflows.
• Background in leading architectural design and mentoring technical staff.
• Hands-on experience with AWS services including DynamoDB, ECS, EC2, Redis, S3, and SageMaker.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform.
• Proficiency in CI/CD practices and production monitoring.
• Experience using observability platforms like Datadog or New Relic.
• Knowledge of containerization and orchestration tools like Docker, ECS, and Kubernetes.
• Understanding of production deployment lifecycles for ML models.

Nice to have

• Background in MLOps or ML platform engineering.
• Experience building event-driven systems and asynchronous programming.
