Join Jumio as a Senior Software Development Engineer focusing on biometrics. You will be instrumental in shaping the future of our backend systems that manage machine learning models in production environments. This role involves close collaboration with machine learning experts and platform teams to build resilient and scalable services.

What you'll do

• Architect and guide the long-term development of backend services for biometrics and machine learning model deployment.
• Work with other engineering groups on company-wide architectural improvements.
• Design and implement platform features that span multiple teams in partnership with product and engineering stakeholders.
• Conduct architectural reviews, provide guidance to other engineers, and champion engineering best practices.
• Develop and maintain backend services for deploying and serving machine learning models.
• Monitor the performance, reliability, and scalability of services in production.
• Manage service deployment and operation on AWS, utilizing technologies like ECS with Fargate, SageMaker, or EC2 with Kubernetes.
• Support both real-time and batch processing for model inference.
• Contribute to continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines, as well as deployment automation.

Requirements

• Proficient in backend development with Java and possess working knowledge of Python.
• Demonstrated experience in mentoring engineers and influencing architectural decisions.
• Experience with Python, particularly in the context of machine learning workflows.
• Hands-on experience with AWS services including DynamoDB, ECS, EC2, Redis, S3, and SageMaker.
• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform.
• Experience with CI/CD processes and production monitoring tools.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration platforms like Docker and ECS.
• Understanding of how machine learning models are deployed and utilized in production.
• Experience with Kubernetes.

Nice to have

• Experience with MLOps or building ML platforms.
• Experience with asynchronous programming and event-driven architectures.
