Senior Machine Learning Engineer

About the role

Jumio is seeking a Senior or Staff Machine Learning Engineer to oversee the creation and scaling of biometric face recognition systems. You will manage the full model lifecycle, from initial training to production deployment, while focusing on fairness and performance. The final seniority level for this position is decided during the interview process.

What you'll do

• Develop and refine computer vision solutions for face recognition, quality assessment, and attribute detection.
• Audit models for algorithmic bias and perform rigorous benchmarking across diverse operating environments.
• Build and maintain end-to-end ML pipelines, including automated data ingestion and cleaning via Airflow.
• Create synthetic data and curate balanced training sets to improve model diversity and performance.
• Optimize models for low-latency inference using quantization, distillation, TensorRT, and ONNX.
• Oversee model deployment on AWS and provide technical mentorship to the engineering team.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience in Machine Learning, with at least 3 years focused on Biometrics or Face Analysis.
• Expert proficiency in Python and vision libraries such as OpenCV, Pillow, and PyTorch.
• Hands-on experience with model training and scaling on multi-GPU clusters.
• Proven ability to design and manage ML pipelines from data preparation to production.
• Experience deploying and scaling services on AWS using SageMaker, EC2, or EKS.
• Practical knowledge of mitigating bias in computer vision systems.

Nice to have

• Academic publications in venues like CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, or FG.
• Experience with vector databases like Milvus or Faiss and ANN search algorithms.
• Familiarity with biometric security, privacy, and compliance standards.
• Experience deploying models to mobile or edge devices using TFLite, LiteRT, or CoreML.
• Background in generating synthetic training data using diffusion models or GANs.
