About the role

Perplexity builds infrastructure for search and AI orchestration, and we are expanding our API Platform to serve external developers. You will join the team responsible for scaling our programmatic interfaces to support startups, large enterprises, and government organizations.

What you'll do

• Architect and maintain high-traffic APIs that expose our core intelligence models to external users.
• Optimize system performance to ensure minimal latency and high throughput for diverse workloads.
• Plan technical strategies to manage rapid growth in customer volume and compute demand.
• Secure and stabilize infrastructure across varied computing environments.
• Work with internal teams to integrate new AI capabilities into the platform.
• Maintain high standards for code quality, documentation, and system design.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional backend engineering experience using Go, Python, or Rust.
• Proficiency in designing complex APIs, including versioning, authentication, rate limiting, and idempotency.
• Practical experience with cloud infrastructure, specifically AWS, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Ability to build ergonomic, well-documented interfaces for developers and autonomous agents.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with modern AI APIs, including model orchestration, streaming, and latency optimization.
