Job description

  • Role Overview

We're seeking a mid-level Windchill Developer to accelerate our PLM roadmap and deliver high-impact enhancements across engineering and operations. You'll own the design, development, and deployment of Windchill customizations and integrations, translating business requirements into scalable, supportable solutions. This role is ideal for a hands-on builder who thrives in fast-paced environments, partners cross-functionally, and ships value with rigor.

- Key Outcomes

- Feature Velocity: Ship secure, maintainable Windchill enhancements (Types/Attributes, Lifecycles, Workflows, Change Objects) with on-time delivery against sprint commitments.

- Integration Reliability: Build and support robust integrations (SAP, JIRA, and other in-house tools) with measurable uptime and traceability.

- User Productivity: Improve page loads, search, and task turnaround via performance tuning and targeted UX uplift.

- Data Quality & Compliance: Enable clean migrations, classification, and governance controls that withstand audits.

- Operational Excellence: Mature CI/CD pipelines, observability, and release hygiene to reduce regressions and mean time to restore.

- Responsibilities

- Configuration & Customization

- Implement and optimize Types & Attributes, state-based Lifecycles, Workflows (Routing/Transitions), and Access Control (ACL/Profile).

- Develop UI extensions using JCA, JSP, and UI policies; create reports via Query Builder, QML, and Info*Engine.

- Build classification schemas and rules using PartsLink and enable downstream reuse (Design/Mfg/Service views).

- APIs, Services & Integrations

- Design RESTful services using Windchill REST Services (WRS) and OData; consume/expose endpoints for partner systems.

- Author Info*Engine tasks, queue processors, and adapters; orchestrate data flows (ESI/ERP connectors).

- Implement secure SSO/OAuth/SAML patterns in collaboration with IAM teams.

- Data Migration & ETL

- Execute bulk loads for Parts, BOMs, EPMDocs; write loaders, mappings, and validation scripts.

- Remediate legacy data (unit harmonization, attribute normalization, classification uplift).

- CAD Integrations

- Support MCAD (primarily Creo (8.0 and above), AutoCAD) integrations, EPMDocument lifecycles, and WTPart/EPM synchronization.

- Platform Engineering

- Establish CI/CD with Git/Maven/Jenkins, automated tests, and deployment checklists.

- Monitor health/performance (method server tuning, queue backlogs, index health, and storage usage).

- Governance & Support

- Author technical specs, runbooks, and user guides; deliver L3 support with RCA and corrective actions.

- Champion security, performance, and code quality standards.

- Required Qualifications

- Experience: 3-6 years in PLM, with 2+ years focused on PTC Windchill PDMLink (11.0 and above).

- Core Stack: Java (JDK 8+), JSP/JCA, XML/XSL, Info*Engine, Query Builder/QML, WRS/OData/REST, SQL (Oracle/SQL Server).

- Windchill Domains: Types/Attributes, Lifecycles/Workflows, Access Control, Change Objects, WTPart/EPM, PartsLink classification.

- Tools & DevOps: Git, Jenkins (or GCP DevOps), scripting, basic Linux/Windows admin.

- Data Work: Bulk loading, mapping, and data validation; familiarity with loaders and migration frameworks.

- Soft Skills: Requirements grooming, stakeholder management, clear documentation, and cross-functional collaboration.

- Nice-to-Haves (Differentiators)

- ThingWorx Navigate app configuration or custom tiles.

- MPMLink, Options & Variants exposure.

- ERP integration experience (SAP, OData REST API's, industry standard IS).

- Creo / Workgroup Manager customization (JLink / Creo Toolkit API), configuration, multi-CAD (Creo, AutoCAD) knowledge.

- Cloud deployment exposure (GCP/AWS/Azure), containerization fundamentals, and familiarity with Simple Change Framework (SCF).

- Experience working in BESS Environment.

- Certifications: PTC Windchill or equivalent PLM credentials.

- Day-in-the-Life of a Windchill Developer

- Partner with Product Owners and BSAs to decompose epics into actionable user stories with clear acceptance criteria.

- Implement features, write unit/integration tests, and participate in peer reviews.

- Drive RCA with telemetry.

- Support release cutovers, smoke testing, and hyper care with crisp communication.

- Success Metrics (KPIs)

- Feature lead time & sprint predictability (commit vs. complete).

- SLA adherence for incidents/problems; MTTR and defect leakage.

- API & job success rates; queue throughput and index health.

- User adoption & satisfaction (task time reduction).
