Americans for Prosperity (AFP) is the premier grassroots organization focused on advocating solutions to the country's greatest challenges. We recognize that tens of millions of Americans are frustrated with the extreme partisanship in government that keeps common-sense reforms from being passed, and instead seek to stand with policy leaders who are committed to finding a better way.

You want to bring people together to solve problems and get lawmakers to make long-term, sustainable public policy changes that will improve the lives of all Michiganders by tearing down government-erected barriers to economic prosperity.

You appreciate how grassroots advocacy and principled elected officials can drive meaningful policy reform... and you understand the power and importance of leveraging grassroots citizens in the policymaking process.

You are an experienced communicator with strong writing skills who enjoys driving a narrative, leveraging your creativity to secure earned media opportunities, and identifying key inflection points around which to build out activities.

This role will provide ongoing policy, government affairs and communications support to AFP-Michigan staff, particularly on engagement with state policymakers, coalition partners, local government officials, volunteers and activists on policy and legislative activities in the Michigan legislature. This includes identifying policy opportunities and threats, strategy and planning for legislation, regulatory change and related activities in collaboration with the AFP national policy team to include research and analysis of current law and proposed state legislation.

A strong candidate will have existing knowledge of policy, process and personnel in the Michigan State House and State Senate. The candidate should have a commitment to the principles of the organization; specifically, a firm commitment to transforming lives through the advancement of principles and policies that ensure every individual's right to economic freedom and opportunity based on free-market principles.
