About the role
Join the IntelliJ IDEA Java Build Tools QA team to ensure the quality of a product used by developers worldwide. Your work will directly impact how smoothly users interact with Java projects built with Maven or Gradle. You will help design and implement automation for end-to-end testing, catching issues before they reach users.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Create, develop, and maintain automated test scenarios across Linux, Windows, MacOS, Docker, and WSL environments.
- Increase test coverage for both new and existing features.
- Troubleshoot and debug test failures.
- Enhance current automation based on team feedback and reduce test flakiness.
- Monitor quality metrics such as testing coverage, failure rates, and flakiness.
- Contribute product-specific extensions to frameworks and tools as needed.
- Assist the team in monitoring test execution results and investigating failures.
- Participate in assessments of release quality.
- Collaborate with QA engineers and developers to define test strategies.
- Perform manual QA tasks when necessary.
- Contribute to the creation of test documentation.
- Improve domain-specific test infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines within your team's scope.
- Share automation best practices with the team.
- Work with the tooling team to adopt new frameworks and practices.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience in test automation.
- Strong programming skills in Kotlin or Java.
- Experience with test frameworks like JUnit or TestNG.
- Familiarity with build tools such as Maven and Gradle.
- Understanding of software testing principles and methodologies.
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools like TeamCity or similar platforms.
- Experience with reporting tools such as Allure or others.
- Version control experience with Git.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Personal qualities of responsibility, self-discipline, and a capacity for self-learning.
- Strong teamwork abilities.
- Ability to work independently, creatively, and with initiative.
Nice to have
- Experience testing developer tools, IDEs, and desktop applications.
- Familiarity with JVM Frameworks like Spring or Jakarta, and databases.
