Job description
AI & LLM Applications Scientist at InVitro Cell Research, LLC.
About the role
InVitro Cell Research is seeking scientists to integrate AI and large language models into our internal research operations. You will bridge the gap between advanced machine learning and practical laboratory workflows to improve productivity and output quality.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Collaborate with bench scientists, data scientists, and computational biologists to build AI-driven workflows for study design, literature reviews, reporting, and data interpretation.
- Prototype and launch frontier and open-source models to advance research in preventive and regenerative medicine, specifically targeting aging and age-related conditions.
- Work alongside research teams to identify operational bottlenecks and develop custom AI solutions to improve scientific rigor and throughput.
- Lead workshops and training sessions to improve AI literacy for staff ranging from junior researchers to senior management.
- Track the AI landscape to provide recommendations to leadership on model adoption, build versus buy decisions, and risk management.
Requirements
- Extensive hands-on experience with LLMs and AI, including multimodal models, GPT-class systems, prompt engineering, and workflow integration.
- A technical background in computer science, machine learning, data science, or a related field, or equivalent experience in technical or scientific domains.
- Proven ability to identify and mitigate LLM risks, such as hallucinations, bias, security, privacy, and intellectual property concerns.
- Experience translating vague scientific or organizational challenges into functional AI applications.
- Experience designing experimental frameworks to evaluate AI tools, including A/B testing, human-in-the-loop testing, and reliability metrics.
- Ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Interest in aging biology and regenerative medicine.
- Understanding of machine learning paradigms and scoring rules.
- Extensive programming skills, with a preference for Python.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Nice to have
- Experience building internal tools or integrations using Python, JavaScript, REST APIs, or frameworks like LangChain.
- Background working with biomedical or scientific data, such as imaging, omics, or clinical data.
- Experience with retrieval-augmented generation, vector databases, or fine-tuning models for specific domains.
- Experience curating annotation guidelines or evaluation datasets for technical applications.
