This position is designed for a seasoned professional who has experience managing a business unit, establishing strategic goals, and overseeing financial outcomes. What you'll do
- Formulate and implement a comprehensive multi-year strategy targeting Instructure's Business & Government markets, which encompass workforce, government, and corporate sectors.
- Supervise all financial metrics for the sector, including bookings, renewals, revenue, and annual recurring revenue, while adhering to a designated budget.
- Lead a collaborative effort among senior leaders from Sales, Customer Success, Marketing, Product, and Finance to meet sector goals.
- Serve as the main external representative for the Business & Government sector, interacting with customers, partners, and industry analysts.
- Provide valuable market insights and customer feedback to influence the product development roadmap in collaboration with the Product team.
- Participate in executive discussions and board meetings, translating sector performance into actionable commercial and financial insights.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the sector to drive growth and market share.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, ensuring alignment and support for strategic initiatives.
- Monitor industry trends and competitor activities to inform strategic decisions and maintain a competitive edge.
- Develop metrics to assess the effectiveness of strategies and initiatives, adjusting plans as necessary to achieve desired outcomes.
- Foster a culture of accountability and performance within the team, ensuring that all members are aligned with the sector's objectives.
Requirements
- At least 12 years of experience in commercial leadership roles, particularly within organizations generating $300 million or more in annual recurring revenue.
- Proven track record as a General Manager, with responsibility for managing a business or significant segment, including P&L oversight and a focus on revenue growth.
- Extensive knowledge of the Business & Government sectors, including workforce, government, or corporate markets, with a clear understanding of buyer behaviors and procurement processes.
- Demonstrated capability to lead and unify cross-functional teams without direct reporting authority, ensuring collaborative efforts towards shared sector goals.
- Experience in crafting and owning multi-year strategies, making tough decisions regarding priorities, and holding oneself accountable for long-term results.
- Strong commercial insight, with the ability to analyze and discuss key performance indicators such as pipeline health, renewal rates, and unit economics.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, adept at engaging with both senior executives and broader audiences effectively.
