About the role
This internship position places you at the heart of research and development initiatives within the Indian Army, focusing on the evolution of modern defense capabilities. You will own the end to end support of projects centered on robotics and autonomous ground systems, ensuring that theoretical concepts are translated into practical, testable prototypes. Your daily work will involve close collaboration with defense technology experts to study and implement advanced navigation solutions for complex military environments. You will be responsible for assisting in the design and evaluation of Unmanned Ground Systems, directly contributing to the enhancement of operational effectiveness. This role offers you the opportunity to evaluate man machine learning concepts in real world scenarios, assessing their viability for future deployment. You will actively participate in field evaluation trials, observing how technology performs under demanding conditions. Ultimately, you will prepare technical reports and presentations that document your findings and communicate critical insights to stakeholders.

What you'll do
- Assist in design and evaluation of Unmanned Ground Systems for military operations, ensuring that hardware and software components meet stringent defense requirements.
- Study and implement autonomous navigation in restricted and obstacle ridden terrain, enabling vehicles to operate safely and efficiently without direct human control.
- Study and implement network technology and algorithm using electro optical Sensors, LIDAR, RF and Software technology for unmanned ground systems, creating robust communication and data processing frameworks.
- Integrate AI enabled terrain and obstacle detection route planning and resilient operation in GPS denied environment, ensuring mission continuity even when primary navigation aids fail.
- Evaluate man machine learning concepts, analyzing how human operators interact with automated systems to improve overall performance and reliability.
- Participate in field evaluation trials, collecting empirical data and observing system behavior in live scenarios to validate design assumptions.
- Prepare technical reports and presentations, documenting methodologies, results, and recommendations in a clear format for review by senior personnel.
- Conduct preliminary simulations and testing of algorithms related to ground vehicle dynamics and sensor fusion to support early stage development.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to identify system level constraints and propose innovative engineering solutions for challenging problems.
- Support the documentation of test procedures and results, maintaining detailed records that support compliance and future research efforts.
Requirements
- B.Tech. / B.E./ Equivalent with specialisation in Artifical Intelligence and Machine Learning, demonstrating a strong foundation in computational methods and data analysis.
- B.Tech. / B.E./ Equivalent with specialisation in Automation and Robotics, showing expertise in the design and control of automated systems.
- B.Tech. / B.E./ Equivalent with specialisation in Mechanical Engineering, providing a solid understanding of physical systems and mechanical design principles.
- B.Tech. / B.E./ Equivalent with specialisation in Robotics and Mechatronics, combining knowledge of electronics, control systems, and mechanical design.
- M. Tech. / M.E with specialisation in Automation and Robotics, indicating advanced study in intelligent system design and implementation.
- M. Tech. / M.E with specialisation in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, offering a broad perspective on integrated engineering challenges.

Practical notes
- Working hours: 9:30 AM To 5:30 PM, Monday to Saturday
- Stipend is paid after successful completion; under 75% attendance is ineligible
