About the role
ID.me is seeking a leader to manage the Data Platform Team with a focus on Site Reliability Engineering and data reliability. You will oversee the architecture and performance of high-throughput PostgreSQL clusters and an in-house Identity Trust Graph Database. This role balances people management with technical ownership to ensure our data infrastructure meets strict uptime and compliance standards.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Define technical architecture and operational standards for the data platform.
- Manage database clustering, replication, failover, disaster recovery, and migrations.
- Optimize query latency, throughput, and cross-region availability.
- Lead roadmap execution and remove operational blockers for the team.
- Recruit, mentor, and manage a team of 5 to 10+ engineers.
- Enforce data governance and security compliance for FedRAMP, NIST, and GDPR.
- Utilize AI tools for incident analysis, documentation, and infrastructure scripting.
Requirements
- Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- 8+ years of total software or infrastructure engineering experience.
- 3+ years in an engineering management or tech lead manager capacity.
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering, site reliability, or platform engineering.
Nice to have
- Experience running software development or feature teams building backend APIs.
- Knowledge of graph database concepts or technologies like Neo4j or Amazon Neptune.
- Background with event-driven architectures and streaming pipelines such as Kafka or Kinesis.
- Experience in regulated industries like FinTech, HealthTech, or GovTech.
- Hands-on expertise managing PostgreSQL database clusters at scale.
- Proficiency with AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, and Helm.
